Double-Blind Peer Review Overview

To ensure scientific integrity, impartiality, and excellence, Jurnal Keperawatan dan Kesehatan (JKK) strictly implements a Double-Blind Peer Review model. Under this procedure, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the entire evaluation and editorial cycle.

Review Workflow & Timeline

  1. Initial Editorial Desk Screening (1–2 Weeks):
    • The Section Editor and Editor-in-Chief evaluate whether the manuscript aligns with the journal's Aims & Scope.
    • Plagiarism & Similarity Screening: Every submission is screened using Turnitin / iThenticate. Submissions with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding bibliography) are desk-rejected.
    • Format compliance with Author Guidelines and template conformity are checked.
  2. External Independent Peer Review (2–4 Weeks):
    • Manuscripts passing initial screening are assigned to at least two (2) independent external reviewers.
    • Reviewers are selected based on proven expertise, relevant PhD/clinical specializations, and authoritative publication track records in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals. Reviewers must declare no competing interests with the authors.
    • Reviewers assess the manuscript based on scientific novelty, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, data analysis, discussion depth, and clinical relevance.
  3. Editorial Decision & Revision:
    • Accept Submission: The manuscript meets all publication criteria and is accepted without changes.
    • Minor Revisions Required: Authors are given 7–14 days to make minor adjustments.
    • Major Revisions Required: Substantial theoretical, methodological, or empirical revisions are needed (2–4 weeks provided), followed by a second round of review.
    • Decline Submission (Reject): The manuscript possesses fundamental flaws or fails to meet journal standards.
  4. Final Production & Copyediting:
    • Accepted papers undergo professional language polishing, layout formatting, reference verification, and DOI assignment prior to online publication.

Appeals Process

Authors who believe an editorial decision was made on flawed grounds may submit a formal appeal in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, detailing specific point-by-point rebuttals. Appeals are reviewed by an independent editorial board member not previously involved with the manuscript.
