Abstract

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is the main factor that increasing mortality, morbidity and neonatal disability. Kalimantan Barat Province is in the second ranks position with highest LBW incidence which is 15%. One problem that occurs in LBW is the unstable body weight which results in increased energy loss. The cause of energy loss in LBW is caused by some immature organs, one of which is the skeletal system, so that the baby's position tends to be extended and the baby is in active sleep. This causes stress to increase. Nesting is a tool to refute the baby's sleeping position so that it is in a flexed position. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of nesting on body weight The design used in this study was a quasi experiment pretest-posttest only design with 15 respondents based on inclusion criteria for neonates aged more than 3 days after birth, birth weight ≤ 2000 grams, neonates in a stable condition. Weight measurements were carried out using a digital scale. Installation of nesting is done for 5 days. Bivariate analysis using t-dependent test. Statistical test results showed the average body weight before was 1529.47 grams, and the body weight after nesting was 1552.47 grams. The results of the analysis in this study showed a significant difference in body weight before and after the nesting was performed with p value = 0.002. Based on the results of research on the use of nesting can be recommended in LBW treatment as an effort to facilitate the growth of LBW, especially body weight.

Bayi berat lahir rendah (BBLR) termasuk faktor utama dalam peningkatan mortalitas, morbiditas, dan disabilitas neonatus. Provinsi kalimantan barat menempati peringkat tertinggi kedua kejadian BBLR sebesar 15%.
